The useful fine print
Fax questions, minus the telecom fog.
The medium may be from 1964. The answers do not have to be.
What does $39 per year include?
One local US fax number, 300 combined incoming and outgoing pages per contract year, up to 10 users, sending to the US and Canada, and 12 months of document retention.
How are pages counted?
Incoming pages and successfully delivered outgoing pages count toward the same balance. Our automatically generated cover sheet is free. Failed outgoing transmissions count as zero pages.
What happens to unused pages?
At renewal, up to 100 unused annual-plan pages roll over. Purchased page packs are separate and do not expire while the account remains active.
What if an incoming fax is longer than my balance?
We never create an automatic money charge. A technically unavoidable overhang is recorded, and further fax use is paused until renewal or an intentional page-pack purchase.
Can a number have history?
Yes. Telephone numbers can have prior users. We recommend testing a new number for 30 days before permanently printing it. If documented spam or a prior holder creates a problem, support can review one controlled number change.
Why can a released number take time to return?
Provider and FCC aging processes can keep a released number unavailable for roughly 45 days. That timing is outside our direct control.
Does spam use pages?
A fax that has already been received uses its actual page count. You can block future faxes from a sender, but that cannot reverse an already completed transmission.
What happens after cancellation?
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid contract year. A 30-day recovery period then keeps the number reserved and documents available for read-only download. Sending and receiving are paused. After day 30, the number is released and documents are deleted.
Can I port a number in or use toll-free?
Fax Without a Fax provides local US numbers. Number porting and toll-free numbers are not available.
Is Fax Without a Fax HIPAA compliant?
No HIPAA offering is advertised. Do not use the service for protected health information unless a separate, written agreement explicitly permits it.
